The KCACTF Region I Directing experience includes:

WORKSHOPS
Two levels of workshops are offered:
Entry Level Directing workshops will acquaint general theatre students with basic techniques of actor/director relationship; staging/use of space, and approaches to production design.
Advanced Level workshops will provide more experienced directing students with skills-based experiences in working with scripts, coaching actors, nurturing artistic teams, and crafting a production.

(SDC) FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Stage Directors and Choreographers / Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Fellowship Program is an exciting opportunity for directing students to further their skills. Participants interact with peers and with professional directors and educators from all regions.
The Program includes in directing workshops and roundtable discussions. All participating students will receive constructive critique of their work from a carefully chosen panel of professionals that is intended to enhance their education. There are two rounds of critique. Students advancing beyond the preliminary round are expected to actively integrate feedback, and then present their scene a second time for additional feedback.
PLAY SLAM
Want to get involved, create new work, and meet new people? Then be sure to participate in the 48 Hour Play Slam, now in its third year. This new event teams up actors, directors, playwrights, designers, dramaturges in a celebration of new work. Participants sign up at the festival on a first-come first-served basis.
Sign-up will be at the Festival registration desks.
